The BKBIA is currently accepting art portfolio submissions from Long Beach-based artists to be considered for an outdoor building mural. The mural will be on the upper strip of Hotel Salina’s building.

Requirements: Each Mural must be paint-based and should align with the family-friendly feeling of Bixby Knolls. Applicant must provide a sample artwork portfolio for consideration by the BKBIA. Applications and portfolios must be submitted by midnight Friday, July 13th, 2018. All Applicants must be 18 years or older. All Applicants must agree to the BKBIA terms and conditions below, or the Applicant’s submission will not be considered.

Selection Process: Applicants are encouraged to apply by filling out the BKBIA Form below and attaching a portfolio or sampling of their work. Submissions will be reviewed by the BKBIA and selected Applicants will be notified of their acceptance by August 10th, 2018. If selected to create a Mural and prior to beginning the proof of concept, Applicant will be invited to the Hotel Salina to view the Mural space. Subject to the terms and conditions below, each selected Applicant will work with the BKBIA to complete a concept for a Mural by Friday, September 7th, 2018.

The Hotel Salina has been welcoming guests since Feb 4, 2013., and we are thrilled to partner with local artists on this initiative and provide more creative spaces to the city.

Terms & Conditions: Any information provided to the Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Association (the BKBIA) by Applicant through this form will be used in consideration of selecting artists to provide the BKBIA with a mural for the Hotel Salina. If selected to create a Mural, Applicant agrees to execute an assignment of copyright agreement and independent contractor agreement with the BKBIA. Applicant agrees that by merely submitting this form for consideration by the BKBIA for its Mural initiative, the BKBIA will not be obligated to Applicant. The BKBIA will not compensate or owe Applicant for their time or materials utilized in the course of this submission. The BKBIA reserves the right to select the Applicant and final Mural concept, in its sole discretion.
