Tree Mulching Day! Thank you to everyone who came out to add mulch to the tree wells on July 18. The trees that were planted in April have been watered regularly and today we filled the wells with fresh redwood mulch. Our next tree plantings and landscape projects will be posted soon.
The 2008 Bixby Knolls Dragster Expo & Car Show was a huge success! During the day on July 12, over 10,000 checked out the 150 cars and 16 vintage top fuel dragsters. A record was set at 8:30pm when all 16 dragsters fired up at the same time and roared through the night sky from Bixby to Cal Heights.

The historic light poles on Atlantic between Bixby & San Antonio will soon be
painted thanks to Public Works. The "Long Beach Blue" poles will help to frame the corridor and be another element in our revitalization program for Bixby Knolls. New banners of similar color will soon go up on Long Beach Blvd to
designate our "business district."

Mark your calendar for Friday, August 8, for a special night at the Long Beach
Petroleum Club. The BIA has partnered with the Petroleum Club and The District Weekly to create "A Mid Summer Night's Swing." The Petroleum club is opening its doors to the community for a fun evening for people to meet and greet. It's
another great opportunity for BIA members and residents to get to know each other. Come hang out in the retro bar, card room, and the famous Red Room and enjoy a "date night" for couples or enjoy a drink while listening to Frank, Sammy, Dean, The Velvet Fog, and other greats. No membership necessary.
The lights will be low, the Rat Pack music will be turned up, Ocean's Eleven will be shown on the flat screens, and there will even be poolside bar and food service. Ring-a-ding-ding! This is the first in a series of "resident nights" at the
Petroleum Club and we are looking forward to seeing you there. The LBPC is located at 3636 Linden Avenue.
Check out the "Art Window" at 4226 Atlantic Avenue. The BIA partnered with Project Oasis to fill the empty storefront (the Sweet Treasures space). Limelightlb.com also created a display for this space. Public art window displays help to keep the area looking vibrant while new tenants fill in the vacated spaces.
No Lines! Plenty of ATMs. New WAMU location open at 4526 Atlantic Ave. Help
relieve congestion at the corner of Roosevelt Rd. and Atlantic Ave.
Long Beach Blvd. will start to see a series of improvements from a partnership
between the Redevelopment Agency and the BKBIA including landscaping, sidewalk repair, and art components.
