Every first Friday night of the month participating Bixby Knolls businesses stay open late and have special sales, promotions, in-store activities, and first glimpses of their newest services and product lines.  All BKBIA members are encouraged to come and participate whether or not they are located within the “pedestrian zone” of Atlantic Avenue (Bixby Road to San Antonio).

The Expo Arts Center and our “Allery” are open to support the freshest local art talent in Long Beach, experimental music, performing arts, and the occasional spoken word. First Fridays is a great opportunity for you to meet the owners of our businesses and give them your support.

Bixby Knolls Strollers is a neighborhood walking club that meets every Saturday morning at 7:15am at Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (4105 Atlantic Ave).  Coffee Bean sponsors the group and provides free coffee each week.  Strollers members purchase additional drinks and treats each week. It’s a great way to get fit, check out the businesses, explore the neighborhoods, and meet your neighbors. Leashed dogs are welcome, also. The walks last for about an hour and the routes change weekly.

Every third Sunday kids rule the streets. Kidical Mass Bixby Knolls is our monthly family-friendly bike ride that leaves at 1:00pm from Georgie’s Place (3850 Atlantic Ave.) All ages and abilities welcome. Free ice cream for everyone after the ride. Routes are approximately 4 miles long and take about an hour to complete.

The Bixby Knolls Literary Society meets on the second Wednesday of each month, 7:00pm, at Taboon Mediterranean (539 E Bixby Rd). The Society focuses on the American classics as well as current releases. Please check the calendar on our home page for the next Literary Society selection and discussion date. Refreshments are served.

The Knights of the Round (Turn)Table meet to listen and discuss the great albums of our time. All genres are considered. We have an educated music-lover as our discussion leader to provide facts and stories behind the music. Every fourth Thursday of the month at various locations around the district. Discussion starts at 6:30pm.

For three glorious months in the summer the BKBIA sponsors world-class music concerts in different parking lots around our district. Bring a folding chair and your dancing shoes! Previous bands include The Western Standard Time Ska Orchestra, Ethio Cali, Janet Klein and Her Parlor Boys, The Buttertones, The Sea Funk Brass Band, Jazz Angels, the Boogaloo Assassins, and more!

The Good Spirits Club meets at various different bar or restaurant in our district for drinks. Become a card-carrying member (for free) and have that card stamped each month for your official Good Spirits Club pint glass or cocktail glass with our badge proudly emblazoned across the front. 

The Bixby Knolls Supper Club meets at various restaurants for a community dinner party. Bixby Knolls Supper Club is the simple concept of supporting our local restaurants on a typically a slow night.
