It’s Fate
We are Michael and Marni Farmer, owners of f/8 Studios. We purchased our commercial building on Orange Avenue in April 2018, and had our grand opening/ribbon cutting in July 2018. We’re celebrating our 5th year in this location this year. Prior to opening a brick and mortar photography studio, we worked from a home office for 10 years. Having a physical location has dramatically increased our connection to families in the community looking for professional photos. We love the Bixby Knolls and Cal Heights neighborhoods, and the families who have trusted us to capture their special photos and milestones.
We are a photography and videography studio. Led by internationally-published, award-winning photographer and photo educator Michael Farmer, the f/8 Studios team is committed to creating a fun, memorable, and immersive photo shoot experience for their clients. We specialize in capturing events, milestones, celebrations, families, babies, maternity, business services, graduations, headshots, and more. We also offer fun themed mini sessions each month, including our interactive Santa Experience that sells out each holiday season. We are sensory friendly, and we are an ally for all people and all love.
We want clients to feel comfortable in front of the lens, and excited about the photo-taking process, while creating memories that will last a lifetime.
We both have a background in theatre production, so all of our photo shoot sets are created to be an immersive, interactive experience for guests to enjoy. From there we capture the real interactions and emotions as clients experience each other, the sets and props, characters, and photography team.
We provide many photo and video services for businesses locally and nationally, including company headshots, lifestyle photo sessions for websites and social media, product photography, event coverage, and marketing videos.
During COVID, we had to shut down our operations just like most every other small business. We pivoted by doing porch-raits (photos shot from a distance in front of clients’ homes), as well as moving our photo studio outdoors to our back lot. This is when our Santa Experience sessions really took off, as we were able to offer distanced covid-safe, private, outdoor photo sessions with the big man himself.
Our f/8 building is also home to the following small businesses: So Smitten Special Events, Lofty Dream Salon, Draped by Lala, Tempoe Entertainment DJs, and Gingersnap Florals. There’s a lot going on inside this 1,500 square foot building–come check us out! f/8 Studios also offers gift cards for photo shoots, which is the perfect gift for that special someone who already has everything.
