We’re throwing it back in the most fabulous way with Retro Romp: a Mrs. Roper-approved, Grandma & Grandpa costume booze & grub crawl right here in Bixby Knolls! It’s all happening at your own pace—just like a leisurely stroll through the mall in ’78—through our neighborhood of breweries, wine bars, restaurants, and shops.

This isn’t your average crawl, sugar. We’re talkin’ beer slushies, Jell-O shots, grandma-style pizza slices, dominoes, word searches, funky tunes, and surprise silliness at every stop. Plus, special deals and sales at local shops along the way!

✨ Costumes are absolutely mandatory, darlings! Whether you show up as sassy Mrs. Roper herself or channel your inner bingo-loving grandparent, we want max flair, big hair, orthopedic chic, and all the retro energy you can muster.

Pick up your ticket and other fun swag day of the event, June 1st,

from 11am-1pm outside the Expo Arts Center (4321 Atlantic Ave)

Limited quantities for sale in-person will be available at the Expo Arts Center (4321 Atlantic Ave) from 11am-1pm.

YOU MUST pick up your wristband AND event card at EXPO Art Center- 4321 Atlantic Ave on Sunday between 11am-1pm.

If you personally cannot make it between within the time frame you can send a friend to pick up your supplies as long as they have a copy of your ticket.

Note: Swag items will be available on a first come first serve basis during ticket pick-up on Sunday. Event will happen, rain or shine.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Retro Romp is an all-ages, family-friendly shindig—bring the grandkids, the in-laws, and even that one cousin who’s “just here for the snacks.” 

BUT if you plan to sip on the boozy stuff, you must be 21+ with valid ID (no exceptions, even if you’re dressed like a 90-year-old bingo queen). 

We’ve got discounted “Grub & Groove” tickets for designated drivers, foodies, and our under-21 crowd. Those still get you all the non-alcoholic goodies, event-only specials, and a chance at some delightfully silly accessories and swag!

Are costumes required?

Well sugar, you’re not forced to dress up… but we are kindly shaking our canes and pleading that you do—because it’s half the fun! We want to see you strut your stuff as a fabulous Mrs. Roper, spunky grandpa, bingo-loving granny, or your best version of retired and ready to party.

Dig into those closets, hit the thrift stores, and bring out the pearls, polyester, curlers, walkers, sweater vests, and sass. 👓👛

It is Retro Romp, after all—so let’s make Bixby Knolls look like a senior center on spring break. We’ll even have some silly retro accessories to help complete your look (first come, first served—and ticket holders only!).

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Plenty of street parking is available throughout the district as well as a limited number of spots at the Expo Art Center, 4321 Atlantic Avenue. As always, we encourage you to drink responsibly. Designate a driver or use Uber/Lyft. Beer shuttles will be running from 12pm to 4pm. Businesses will be open longer, feel free to stay but please plan accordingly to get back to your car.

I don’t drink alcohol, should I still come?

Darlin’, of course you should! Retro Romp is way more than just booze. Think live tunes, food tastings, silly games, retro shopping, and plenty of laughs. You might even spot a breakdancing grandpa or two. 

If you’re skipping the booze but still want to join the fun and get access to all the treats, specials, and fabulously fun accessories, grab yourself a “Grub & Groove” ticket! It’s perfect for designated drivers, foodies, and anyone who prefers a Shirley Temple over a tequila sunrise. 

Does my child need a ticket?

Nope! Little ones are more than welcome to tag along for the romp. But if you’d like to sprinkle in a little extra fun (and swag!) for your mini rompers, you can snag them a “Grub & Groove” ticket to join in on the tastings and festivities.

What’s the refund policy?

Sorry, buttercup—no refunds. If something comes up and you can’t make it, we’ll miss you! But your ticket will be considered a generous donation to support the Bixby Knolls Community Foundation & BKBIA for our groovy year-round programming. 

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

A printed or digital ticket is just fine—either will get you through check-in quicker so you can spend less time waiting and more time rompin’.
