Little Owl School
Long Beach native and longtime Bixby Knolls resident Janet Watt had an idea: create a progressive early childhood education program in the area that serves as a school and a resource for educators, parents, and the community. In the summer of 2010, Little Owl School officially opened its doors.
Little Owl School is committed to the Reggio learning approach, which recognizes each child’s competence, capability, and creativity. Parents, teachers, and the community are considered integral in enhancing children’s educational experiences.
The school’s mission is to promote a progressive model of education. Little Owl School aims to assist parents in fully comprehending their crucial role in their child’s development and emphasize the importance of working collaboratively with educators in their child’s learning. Educators here view themselves as professionals in early childhood development and are supported in their continuing education. Little Owl School is a valuable community resource committed to promoting positive change in education.
In addition to the preschool program, Little Owl School offers a school-aged summer program, parent workshops, and educational seminars open to the public and the profession. Continuing education credits are available for those attending our educational workshops. As a resource, Little Owl has an event center that is available to rent.
