Position: Marketing & Events Intern

POSITION:

The Bixby Knolls Community Foundation (BKCF) is seeking a Marketing & Events Intern to gain hands-on experience in event coordination, marketing, and community engagement. This role supports the planning and promotion of signature community events such as Concerts in the Park(ing) Lot, First Fridays Art Walk, and various fundraisers, while also participating in outreach efforts during these events to help strengthen community connections.

Working closely with the Executive Director and Project Manager, the intern will assist with event logistics including venue setup, timeline management, and overall event preparation. The intern will also support marketing initiatives such as social media promotion, updating the organization’s website, assisting with digital and print materials, and engaging with local businesses and community members.

This role requires strong multitasking skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced office environment, and comfort interacting with diverse stakeholders. The internship runs from June through December, with an expected commitment of 15 in-person hours per week at our office. This is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience in event management, marketing, and community outreach.

REQUIRED & PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Beginning April 1, please submit your resume along with two references, including their names and contact information. Also, provide a detailed cover letter expressing your interest in event planning, marketing, and community building, as well as your qualifications for the position. Your application should highlight your education, work experience, extracurricular activities, and any relevant event planning experience. 
  • This internship is funded by a grant from the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture. To adhere to their guidelines, the are requirements are:
    • You must be able to legally work within the United States.
    • You must be a resident of Los Angeles County attending college outside of the region OR currently attend college in Los Angeles County.
    • You must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate, including students enrolled in an associate degree (community college) program.
    • Students who are on track to complete their undergraduate degree, or transfer from a community college to a four-year institution between May 1 – December 1,
      2026, are also eligible.
    • The following students are NOT eligible:
      • Students who have already earned a Bachelor of the Arts, Bachelor of Science, or a higher degree.
      • Students who have previously participated in the LA County Arts Internship Program.
      • Current high-school students who are co-enrolled in college courses.
      • Please note that students who are relatives of staff or board members may not be hired

POSITION TYPE:

This is a part-time in-office position, 15-20 in-person hours per week. We will work around school schedules as needed, but you are expected to attend work events when able.

$18.47/hr with a cap of 400 hours total for this internship.
